Meadowvale

Old Meadowvale Village was settled by Irish immigrants from upper New York State in the 1820’s. The area later became part of Mississauga in the late 1960s. It’s considered a highly successful planned community, one that includes retail, recreation, schools, parks, and even two man made lakes!

While the neighbourhood has expanded over the years, its historical pockets still provide a Victorian charm that you don’t often see in Mississauga.

If you’re looking for a little bit of history in your suburban home, Meadowvale might just be right for you. That said, you’ll also find an abundance of properties that were developed in the 70s, 80s, and more recently (including a wide array of townhouses). Many of the homes here are on the smaller side—and relatively affordable!

Meadowvale is home to a whole lot of families! This is a very diverse population, including many 2nd generation Canadians. The area’s sheer geographic size means you’ll see an eclectic mix of people from all walks of life. Its proximity to a major business park also makes it convenient for local professionals.

This family-friendly neighbourhood provides access to good schools, and the nearby highway and Go stations makes for easy commutes. This is a central suburb close to Highway 401 and GO transit, along with other popular areas like Streetsville.

Meadowvale Town Centre, which includes a variety of stores and services, only makes the area more convenient. Other attractions include the Meadowvale Community Centre (with its pool, fitness centre, and squash courts, among other amenities) and Meadowvale Conservation Area. Nearby, lakes Aquitaine and Waakkukayne make for great outdoor strolls—and potential wildlife sightings.

Overall, this neighbourhood is known for having some great schools—including top-notch Catholic options. St. Marcellinus is one of Mississauga’s best secondary schools, while Plum Tree Park Public School is considered to be one of the city’s top elementary schools.
