This family-friendly neighbourhood stretches across a fair part of Oakville. Largely developed in the 1940’s to 1960’s, West Oakville is not immune to redevelopment, and you’ll see pockets of this area filling up with large luxury homes.
The original homes of West Oakville are average-sized split-level or two story homes, situated on extremely large, private lots. The privacy of those large, green lots has long appealed to families. However, the sheer size of the plots (60’ x 120’ being very typical) have led to many of those post-war homes being torn down and replaced with larger luxury homes.
For the most part this is still relatively affordable for an Oakville address, so you’ll see upper middle class families with kids living here, drawn to the pleasant community feel and 3 and 4 bedroom homes.
There are lovely outdoor spaces to enjoy such as the newly redeveloped Queen Elizabeth park, the Bronte Tennis Club, and of course, the lakeshore! There are great schools available for all ages, a big perk for families.
