Bay Street Corridor

This downtown stretch is the ultimate urban neighbourhood—and one of the most densely populated stretches in Toronto! Smack bang in the centre of everything, this area along Bay runs from Bloor all the way down to Queen, widening around College Street to include the University of Toronto Campus.

Once known as “The Ward”, the historical part of Toronto dates all the way back to 1827! Once home to large Chinese populations, the construction of City Hall in the 1950’s moved that population West to its better known Chinatown location. The majority of space here is taken up with residential condominium units and businesses rather than shopping and dining, but the proximity to other downtown neighbourhoods makes up for it.

Proximity to work is the name of the game here, and this stretch of Toronto provides easy access to the financial district, the major hospitals, and Queens Park. You’ll find career-focused professionals who just can’t give up the easy access to the path and the short commute time. Bikes and walking tend to rule, and the connection to the PATH means an easy escape from the Toronto’s harsh winters.

The convenience of having everything at your doorstep and the ease of walking everywhere. It might not be forever, but this is the definition of living in the downtown core. Also, some of the newer condo towers are absolutely stunning!
