About East Credit

Just a few short decades ago, the neighbourhood of East Credit was still largely rural. Farmland was replaced by a local landfill in 1980, though it closed in the early 2000s. It was later replaced by BraeBen Golf Course, which remains a major local attraction.

This beautifully-planned north central community consists of several smaller neighbourhoods. In the surrounding area, you’ll find Streetsville. The perceived boundaries of these two communities blend fairly seamlessly.

East Credit is home to diverse housing stock. The older areas that sit near the Credit River date back to the 70s and 80s, while the newer regions are located further east. When it comes to new builds, you’ll find detached, semi-detached, and townhouse options—many of which are constructed of charming red brick.

Who Lives Here

As you might expect of a suburban neighbourhood, East Credit is home to a large number of families. The area’s selection of schools boost its attractiveness in the eyes of parents with younger kids.

Due to East Credit’s proximity to major highways (like the 401 and 403), it’s also a prime neighbourhood for commuters—and those who need to travel to nearby cities regularly.

What's Great About It?

When it comes to amenities, East Credit is probably best known as the home of Heartland Town Centre. Located at the corner of Mavis Road and Britannia Road West, this shopping complex is one of the largest in Canada. It boasts a wide variety of shops, retail outlets, and restaurants—all a stone’s throw away for residents.

East Credit is also home to the beautiful BraeBen Golf Course. This celebrated Mississauga destination features both an 18-hole championship course, as well as a 9-hole course. Those who prefer indoor recreation will want to head to River Grove Fitness Centre, which features a gym and indoor pool.

Of course, there’s more to love about East Credit than its attractions. The area has many other major draws—including its location. Living here means you’ll enjoy a 20-minute drive to Pearson Airport.

Schools

East Credit is home to some of the best learning institutions in Mississauga. Ones to watch include Whitehorn Public School, Britannia Public School, Hazel McCallion Senior Middle School, Streetsville Secondary School, and Rick Hansen Secondary School.
