Sheridan

In West Mississauga, you’ll find one of the city’s most beloved communities. Founded in 1857, Sheridan was once just a tiny hamlet. It’s grown by leaps and bounds since then, and today it’s made up of three separate subsects. These include Sheridan Homelands, Sherwood Forest, and the Mississauga Road Corridor (which is known for its high-end beauty).

Despite its growing size, Sheridan has retained it’s village feel—thanks in large part to its tight-knit community and relaxed pace of life. There’s a wide variety of homes to be found in Sheridan, but most are located on quiet, tree-lined streets and offer wide lots with mature trees.

No matter which of Sheridan’s three major areas you live in, you’ll feel like you’re a part of a warm and welcoming community. Residents are primarily families and empty nesters who are enjoying retirement.

Sheridan Homelands and Sherwood Forest are on the quiet side, which is perfect for families (though all of its areas are great for those with kids).

For those who value recreation, Sheridan offers an appealing mix of activities. Between the David Ramsay Outdoor Pool, Sheridan Tennis Club, Oakridge Tennis Club, and Springbank Meadows Park, there are plenty of ways to stay active.

Sheridan Centre is the community’s main shopping complex. With its variety of shops, services, and food vendors, it’s no wonder it’s a local favourite. For residents who need to do some shopping outside the neighbourhood, the area offers easy access to the QEW and highways 403 and 407. Sheridan also has its own bus terminal, and Clarkson GO Station is also just a short jaunt away.

There are a number of highly-regarded schools in Sheridan. For elementary students, options include Sheridan Park Public School, Thorn Lodge Public School, and Oakridge Public School. Older kids attend Homelands Senior Public School, followed by Erindale Secondary School.
