Falgarwood
About Falgarwood
Falgarwood is an older neighbourhood in North Oakville that is experiencing a bit of a revival. Developed during the 1950s to the 1970s, the characteristic bungalows and two-storey homes have long been affordable options for families. This is a noticeably pretty area of Oakville, with greenery aplenty and leafy streets that are a pleasure to explore.
The neighbourhood is nestled between Upper Middle Road, Iroquois Shoreline Woods Park, Falgarwood Road, and Trafalgar Road. Also called Iroquois Ridge South, this close-knit community is as family-friendly as it is scenic.

Who Lives Here
This has long been a family stomping ground, and there is a steady flux of them interested in the area. You’ll see a mix of long-term residents, from almost adult children and new families to empty-nesters. As one of the more diverse neighbourhoods in Oakville, Falgarwood is both luxurious and relatively accessible, with your usual upscale residences on sprawling lots intermixed with townhouses and some smaller homes.
Falgarwood has two primary claims to fame:
- It is full of picturesque beauty, surrounded by parks and trails.
- It is also highly convenient, providing easy access to transit, the QEW and 403, a Go Station, as well as a host of modern amenities.
Even though there are people choosing to rebuild larger, more extravagant homes on those coveted Oakville lots, for the most part, it’s a middle-class family ‘hood.
What's Great About It?
Falgarwood’s home prices are especially attractive for Oakville—not to mention its convenient access to the GO train station and highways. There is plenty of green space, ample box stores and shopping, and tons of great schools within a few minute’s drive. Really—what’s not to love?
A day in the life of a Falgarwood resident is rife with questions and choices. Should you spend a day lounging at Falgarwood Park with a picnic lunch or hit one of the many trails in the neighbourhood?
Fleetwood Park is filled with lush wooded areas and paths where you can disappear into the wonders of nature for hours on end. Then again, Holton Heights Park has tennis courts, a playground, and soccer fields. All of this is just minutes away, whether you’re walking, cycling, or driving. Decisions, decisions!
Perhaps a visit to the Iroquois Ridge Community Centre is in order. You could race down the giant waterslide before splashing into the pool at the bottom or join an aquafit class. Afterwards, you can relax and lose yourself in a book at the library.
Or should you romp and play at an outdoor playground after spending a day shopping at the nearby Oakville Place Mall? Then again, Square One Shopping Centre isn’t far away either, thanks to easy highway access, and it’s the largest mall in all of Ontario. This is a glimpse of what your life would look like in Falgarwood – and someone has to make those tough choices. Fortunately for locals, there’s time to do and see it all.
