Oct 21, 2026 | Market News

📣 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐇! Here are the real estate market stats you need to know for September 2026 home sales in Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville and Burlington.

September brought a mixed start to the fall real estate market, with sales activity picking up across several housing segments while average home prices continued to vary by location and property type. Some markets experienced meaningful price increases, while others presented opportunities for buyers.

On a broader market level, GTA REALTORS® reported 5,040 home sales through TRREB’s MLS® System in September 2026, down 9% compared to September 2025. New listings declined by 14.4% year over year to 16,500, while the average GTA selling price was $1,006,409, down 5.1% compared to last year. On a seasonally adjusted basis, home sales, new listings and average selling prices edged lower compared to August.

The decline in new listings is worth watching as we move further into the fall market. While overall sales activity remains below last year’s levels, the month-over-month figures reveal stronger activity in certain housing segments. Market conditions continue to vary considerably by location and property type, making the latest local data especially valuable for buyers and sellers.

Here are our key takeaways on the month-over-month activity between August 2026 and September 2026:
